A man trying to reconnect with his parents on a sailing trip is caught in the path of a hurricane. At a remote Caribbean island, facing imminent shipwreck, the author finds himself struggling to survive inside the eye of the storm.
A true story.
Eye of the Storm eBook Cory Lunn
You have to take this book for what it is--a narrative of surviving a very strong and powerful and dangerous hurricane aboard a small sailboat. The drama is intense, and anybody who is into sailing and appreciates a good sea story or storm story will love this book. Personally, because I am a memoirist, I would have liked to have seen more of the human drama--more of Cory's inner musings while the storm was upon them (that darn emotional significance that memoirists struggle with), and much more of what his family went through after the storm. Sometimes the days and weeks after a hurricane are more devastating than what happens during the storm, and I would love to see a few more chapters about what all of these cruisers and islanders went through. Cory and his family proved to be resilient and remarkable people--I just wanted to read more about this side of them. The writing is very good, and, I think, could also be polished into something remarkable given another few revisions. There are moments that are transcendent and brilliant. I hope that Cory decides to take on this challenge and keeps writing this story.Product details

Eye of the Storm eBook Cory Lunn Reviews
You won't be able to put this book down! A real page-turner that leaves you feeling like you've just lived through a hurricane with the author and his family. A must-read!
Great read! The book was intense. I could not put it down. As an avid sailor I often found myself holding my breath and even tearing up a few times. My friends are fighting about who gets to read it next!
I was completely enthralled by this adventure story. The author had me at the edge of my seat as I worried about him and his family fighting the hurricane. Cory's writing style pulled me into the story in a way that I hadn't expected. A very good read!
Cory Lunn's book "Eye of Storm" is an instant classic. The true story of a man and his family trying to survive in the chaos of Hurricane Ivan is so intense I could not put it down. It is better than the book and movie "The Perfect Storm." It is a must read for all. If you love boats, weather, adventure survival stories; this book is for you! After the book you will want to go sailing or visit the beautiful Carribean. I highly recommend this book!
Amazing story of Survival. Cory brings you with him on his emotional journey going through that hurricane. I just can't begin to imagine what that was like for him and his family. It's a must read story!!
An excellent account of one familys efforts to save their boat in a hurricane. Narrated so well that I still feel the water of the storm. It is hard to put into words the awsome, amazing, stupendus (call it what you may) fury of a hurricane but this book comes close. A great read for how conditions can change so quickly that one good choice can quickly become life threatening of no faut of your own.
Really enjoyed this book. The story is riveting - I couldn't put it down.
As a sailor I really appreciated the realism and the way the events are described all the way up to the climactic ending. Many of the other heavy weather stories I have read are so focused on the technical details that they sound like textbooks. This book reads like you are hearing the story from a friend that just survived an incredible experience and is telling you all the details as though they just happened yesterday. Highly recommended!
